"I love the clarity and insight of Susi's applied
anatomy. She goes
right to the key areas of relevance for yoga practitioners and offers
her years of skilled knowledge in potent synthesized & visual
material that will benefit students and teachers from all
backgrounds. Highly recommended!"
- Shiva Rea, Yoga teacher
At Anatomy and Asana we have created a unique process for yoga teachers and yoga teacher trainees who want to really understand anatomy in movement – not only the names of muscles and where they are located, which asanas stretch this or that, but to truly understand how the body moves – how your body moves.
Our workshops and trainings are catered to yoga teachers and trainees who want to learn on their body because they know that when they "get it" on their body, they can express it to their students more clearly.
They aren't looking for the one answer or the one program for "SI joint pain", or “back pain”or "knee pain", or "wrist pain" because they know that what creates SI joint, back, knee, or wrist pain in one student is different from another student.
However, they also know that by understanding movement, and learning to see blockages in movement they can piece together the customized solution for themselves and their students to create balance, ease of movement and inherent strength and flexibility - all without pain.
We don't want to just "give you the fish". We want to teach you "how to fish". You will never starve with the latter.
If this way of teaching resonates with you, if you want to create balance in your body rather than just doing exercises, we'd love for you to join us. A listing of our workshops can be found here.

“Ask Susi” is a resource for you to ask your questions about yoga, yoga and anatomy, yoga therapy, restorative yoga and finding language to cue effectively for your students. This past month we chatted about ultimate hamstring releases; how to use the spinal strap; the best ways for moving into Uttanasana; working with sore outer ankles; how to release the thoracic spine; and how to assess if a student is ready for shoulder stand.
What people are saying:
I just wanted to say thanks for the call this week. I sent in general questions that I had just been wondering about but came away from the call with some amazing tools that I can tell are going to make a difference for my husband and my students.
Thanks for offering this service and sharing your knowledge.
A little update on my husband's knee. We did the block and strap tests and he could not get any movement at all without employing the hip flexors! WOW! He is going to work on this. It was very eye opening. This all started bothering him when he added the prostrations before his meditation sitting (Zen). So he is going to lay off those for a couple weeks and focus on this exercise and see what happens with his knee.
Thanks again- I look forward to the next call.
Karen
What an amazing and inspiring experience! Your teaching is awesome in that you keep it real and keep the flow of the workshop moving forward while still challenging us by making us think and find the answer on our own. I can’t wait to apply this stuff!
Thank you so much.

PS. You have such a great, calming demeanor and really know how to “handle the crowd” with patience and respect.
I like how Susi works, how she explores all that is happening inside. After Susi’s work, I like that stage of just floating, smoothing, flying inside my own body. I hope I express myself. Having this experience is amazing. Thank you.

Susi’s clear explanation of the body and its functionality is amazing. She keeps everything so simple that her principles of yoga therapy can be understood, remembered, and applied immediately. I can’t wait to get back home to get started!
Thanks so much,

This training is great. It is not about memorizing every muscle, tendon and bone. It is much more simple than that. It is about pure movement. It is about learning to assess a body and to bring that body back to functional movement.
