Anatomy and Asana by Susi Hately Aldous

This one comprehensive manual describes anatomical concepts as they relate to yoga asanas. If there is just one book you should read on yoga and anatomy, this would be the one.

Susi Hately Aldous has spent over 10 years teaching anatomical principles to students as either an anatomy teaching assistant or a yoga instructor. The principles she writes about in the book are the same she uses with very successful results in her own practice as a student and teacher.

The following three books are supplements to Anatomy and Asana: Preventing Yoga Injuries. They assume you have the knowledge that is in the first book, and want to take that knowledge deeper.

The Shoulder Girdle by Susi Hately Aldous

This ebook (which is also available as a bound version) is a supplement to the Anatomy and Asana: Preventing Yoga Injuries Spiral Bound book (listed above). In it are more drawings, more principles and more inquiries to fuel your exploration of anatomy and yoga.

In it you will learn how to create stability of the shoulder girdle so that your hand balances are stronger all the while you have less wrist and elbow pain. The book also delves into problems related to the rotator cuff and winged scapulae and provides a program to help improve your stability and mobility so you experience less pain and more freedom and ease.

The Knees by Susi Hately Aldous

The second supplement in the Anatomy and Asana series, this book is for you or your students who have knee pain.

You will learn the biomechanical connection between your hip, knee, breath and core stability. More pictures and a practice to help you get out of knee pain on and off the mat.

The Sacroiliac Joints by Susi Hately Aldous
