A Yogi's Story after a Jan '09 Training
First, thank you so much for the fabulous day! You made it all very accessible. It was a full day and I didn't feel overwhelmed for a moment. I just loved your down-to-earth presentation style - your humour and your warmth. You conveyed so much knowledge without elevating yourself. I have been studying anatomy on my own - with your books of course - but the workshop helped me integrate the physical and energetic concepts.
Here I sit, the day after, feeling my body but no pain or tenderness. I did an Iyengar Workshop in Toronto last summer and was sore all over for days. I left your workshop feeling "contained". I have been applying effort to my practice - and subsequently to my teaching. I realized that, in my willful way, I have been scattering my energy instead of harnessing it and allowing that beautiful flow I experienced yesterday.
My teacher trainer always spoke of "effortless effort" and I understand this principle on an intellectual basis. Your workshop bypassed the brain and brought the effortlessness to my body. I felt fluid and graceful, and, might I say, liberated! (I really had to stop myself from jumping up and down with child-like glee!!) ~ Jennifer, Toronto Area
Therapeutic Yoga Intensive: 4 Locations in '09
pre-requisite: 12 hrs of training with Susi in any location.
Yogis' stories and experiences:
Hello everyone,
I first want to say thank you sooooooo much Susi for all the knowledge that you had shared with us. It is one that has already changed my life, physically, mentally and spiritually. I wake up every morning now with little to absolutely no pain, I have this new found awareness and understanding on how my body moves, I feel grateful each and every morning ( I wake up and the first thing I say oh wow I love my body, it feels amazing and my husbands says I know, I do too, hahaha!), mentally I am more confident then I have ever been, I have taken so many trainings over the past 8 years and this by far was and still is the most educational and simple to grasp and Susi you are the largest contributor to why I get this stuff now. Emotionally I feel full of life, I have something great to share with others that will impact them and I in a positive way and it's simple and not at all complex.
I have started to share some the exercises in my classes and people are loving the hip exercise. I also want to make the transition a little different, I am looking at creating at totally separate class for it and like Natasha said, it will be a total KICK YOUR EGO'S ASS CLASS.
~Helena B, Ontario
I just wanted to touch base with you and let you know how much I enjoyed all the training I did with you last week. All the participants had so much to offer by way of experiences and knowledge, and your teaching style is so spot on! I not only learned how to assess and plan strategies for physical problems needing yoga therapy, I learned a lot about myself and my own body. Your low-key, pragmatic style works well for me and the philosophy makes so much sense.
~Barb M, Ontario
What an amazing and inspiring experience! The 4 days gave me a wealth of knowledge. Your teaching is awesome in that you keep it real and keep the flow moving forward while still challenging us by making us think and find the answer. I can't wait to apply this stuff! Thank you so much!
~Jaylene P, British Columbia
The Intensive for me was everything. I like how Susi works, how she makes us go inside and explore all that happens inside. I like to feel, and I like that after I work with Susi there is a stage of "not feeling", just floating, smoothing, flying inside my own body. I hope I express myself. Having this experience is amazing. Thank you, A LOT.
~Beatriz, Mexico

Thank you again Suzi for that fantastic workshop. I have taught two classes since returning home and both groups LOVED the work and want to continue integrating these principles into our practice. For me - I see no other way to practice except slowly and with awareness - this is what drew me to your work in the first place. I will look forward to getting the dates for the 4 day intensive in Duluth next summer.
Namaste'
~Theresa, Wisconsin
p.s. - I have two private clients starting this week!!
Susi rocks! I've been teaching yoga since 2001 and until I started training with Susi, I always found anatomy to be confusing and technical. Now I find it logical and easy to understand.
Susi's language is plain English; and she makes the principles of movement, anatomy and therapeutic yoga accessible to everyone. Her trainings aren't about learning a bunch of fancy words; they're about learning to really feel what's happening in the body, to feel the effects of simple but powerful therapeutic techniques, and ultimately to help ourselves and our students improve the way we move in the world.
Susi teaches a movement "philosophy" based entirely on anatomical facts. She understands and teaches that there aren't "recipes" for therapeutic yoga, but there are simple principles that any teacher can follow to ensure they aren't doing harm. That's powerful stuff for those of us that teach people who come to us in pain!
